If you hunt, then you can appreciate the need for a somewhat larger caliber at a more intermediate range. You'll need a rifle whose ability really shines in this area. And what better way to avoid paying current market prices than to build it yourself? This side-charging LR-308 build kit covers both needs exceptionally well.

You get a pre-built side-charging upper assembly that starts with a 16-inch parkerized heavy-profile barrel paired with a 15-inch free-floating handguard. It comes with a 6-position buffer tube assembly and butt stock, and a lower parts kit. Once you complete your 80% lower, you simply supply the backup sights or optic of your choice and of course mags and ammo.

Additionally, each kit is based on DPMS' .308 platform, the modern commercial alternative to ArmaLite's original AR-10 design. This guide covers the two platforms in detail.

What’s Included

This kit is not a firearm. It includes an assembled upper receiver, bolt carrier group, lower parts kit, and buffer assembly with buttstock. It does not include the component to make a firearm: A stripped lower receiver. Pair this rifle kit with an AR-10/LR-308 80% lower receiver and AR-10/LR-308 jig to fabricate a receiver, sold separately.

Please note: This kit features a side-charging upper assembly.
