Liberty 80% Lower Jig (AR-15/AR-9)
Price range: $89.99 through $179.99
Description
You’ve heard the buzz over people building their own AR-15 rifles. Here’s how they do it. They take one of any number of varieties of forged or billet 80% lowers, put it in a jig. A jig is basically a template for how the rest of the lower should be machined away. Then they use a mere drill press and one or two other minor tools everyone has in their garage to remove the rest of the material from the lower. They they assemble the parts into a working AR-15. This is that jig. It’s the first step to getting you building.
PLEASE NOTE: Tooling for this jig is optional. You’ll need to select whether you would like accompanying tooling with your jig.
How the Liberty 80% Jig Works
The Liberty 80 lower Jig takes a largely vertical approach to cutting your AR-15’s receiver for the lower parts kit. Using the provided drill bits, you’ll first remove a large portion of aluminum from inside the main fire control cavity by drilling various pilot holes. Quick and easy.
You’ll then use the end mill bits for light cutting and cleaning up the receiver’s walls before cutting a hole for the trigger. Lastly, reinforced drill bushings on one side plate ensure your hammer, trigger, and safety pin holes are drilled perfectly through the receiver. No measurements required for these. Then you’re done! The whole process takes about 1 to 2 hours for first-timers.
It’s All in The Bits
The secret to the Liberty Jig isn’t just the plates, templates, and guides. The included bits are made from quality high-speed steel (HSS). These are commercial-grade bits that can eat through forged or billet aluminum in seconds, making fabricating multiple receivers as quick as it is simple.

This jig was really easy to use just bolt on and put it on the mill. Would have been cool to have instructions but they were easy to find. Much better to spend 179 compared to 250 from other places. If you don’t have access to an end mill you might want to consider a 6 inch sliding vise and a decent press for a good looking finished item

This was my first build. Everything worked out great definitely not my last build.

Absolutely amazing and crazy easy. It took me longer because I was using a less expensive press but now I have a fully functional lower for my AR9 upper. The only suggestions I have, is get a good press with a good vice.
Dave Abee –
Seems overall like a decent cheaper jig, but the full pocket milling plate I received didn’t line up with the base plates and the screws won’t go all the way in without cross threading.

it is dead on. working very well! great price.

I’ve not used this Jig…Been using Plastic. and couldn’t get trigger and hammer holes ON… A slight touch from right side would cause sear to let go and trigger to work.. So I’m extremely excited to get and try a new lower with this tool.
Delbert Nichols –
I love the Jig, I milled my receiver, and it turned out great. Held the lower tight and straight, will use it many times to do more lowers.
Matt Katsarelis –
Fixture was perfect self explanatory no issues. Fit perfect worked flawlessly.
John Trimpe –
Worked like a charm. Was even on the bottom right sideplate, the other one had a step blemish about 1/16ths inch deep (previous liberty jig, this one is flat and even).
Michael Lafferty –
The jig plate for the trigger hole was not square when assembled on top of jig. my trigger hole is not uniform and square even while going slow. Otherwise strong piece of equipment
